Mission

The mission of Love INC of Greater Hershey is to mobilize the church to transform lives and the community in the name of Christ. The primary ways Love INC does this are through the centralized call center or Clearinghouse, and their three large ministries: The Bicycle Ministry, which provides bicycles to children and adults; a Personal Care Closet, which provides personal, household, and baby basics not covered by food stamps; and The Parsonage, which is a free, home away from home for families of patients at the Hershey Medical Center.

History

Today's vibrant Love INC of Greater Hershey chapter is the outgrowth of an ecumenical workshop hosted by the Hershey Ministerium. In June 2004, The Reverend Tom Sine, inspirational speaker and author, challenged and inspired a core group of volunteers to embark upon a journey to find and implement a model that would allow churches to minister together in our local community - across any boundaries. Love INC's collaborative model was the answer. Trainers from Love INC's national headquarters conducted instruction in June 2006, and a local Board of Directors was installed in August 2006. Love INC of Greater Hershey became the 131st affiliate in Love INC's 30 year history when they opened officially on May 4, 2007.
