October 4, 2009Parsonage Celebrates First Anniversary
Love INC of Greater Hershey recently celebrated the first year of operation of The Parsonage with an ice cream social on the front lawn of Spring Creek Church of the Brethren in Hershey. The ice cream, food, and decorations were provided by donations from local businesses and civic organizations.

During its first year of operation, Love INC's Parsonage served 137 guests and provided 516 nights of lodging for families. A collaboration between Love INC of Greater Hershey and 15 local churches makes The Parsonage a reality. During the ice cream social to celebrate The Parsonage's first year in operation Irvine Smalls, Parsonage Director, thanked the volunteers, "Through the gifts and talents of scores of volunteers, The Parsonage has touched the lives of many people, showing them the compassion of the Hershey - Hummelstown community." Providing lodging and ministering to those in need fulfills the mission of Love INC which is to mobilize the Church to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ.

The Parsonage Director Announced
Love INC of Greater Hershey is pleased to announce Rev. Irvine Smalls as their Director of The Parsonage, effective September 1, 2009. As The Parsonage Director, Irv will provide direction and leadership to this ministry. Irv is a retired manager of community relations and staff scientist with The Hershey Company. He is an ordained minister with the African Methodist Episcopal Church and is a graduate of Hershey Medical Center's Chaplaincy Program. Irv is a graduate of Elizabethtown College (B.S. Chemistry) and Penn State University (B.S. Psychology), and is completing a master's degree in health education from Penn State University. Irv and his family are members of the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey.

Clearinghouse Coordinator Announced
Love INC of Greater Hershey is pleased to announce Cindy Lear as their new Clearinghouse Coordinator, effective August 3, 2009. In this new position, Cindy will be responsible for coordinating Love INC's clearinghouse activities, including overseeing volunteers and assisting clients. "Cindy has the right combination of knowledge, skills, and experience to meet our current ministry needs. We will be blessed by her service," said Michele Chadwick, Love INC of Greater Hershey Executive Director. Cindy is a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey. She and her family reside in Palmyra.
