The Parsonage

The Parsonage is a home away from home for the families of patients at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The Parsonage is currently serving families of patients of the transplant, oncology, and hematology services and the Heart and Vascular Institute. Our partner church, Spring Creek Church of the Brethren in Hershey, allows Love INC to use and operate their lovely historic four-bedroom home in the fashion of a Ronald McDonald House charity.

Love INC is pleased to offer caregivers, primarily adults, the opportunity to be near their loved one during a health crisis. Located in a quiet, safe neighborhood, The Parsonage is only 2 miles from the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Forty to forty-five volunteers from 10 different churches care for our guests and the home on a monthly basis. Since opening full-time on September 29, 2008, Love INC volunteers have provided warm hospitality to over 183 guests and provided 720 nights of free lodging, saving the families a minimum of $36,000 - $72,000. (Figures assume year round hotel availability in Hershey and a modest cost of $50 - $100 per hotel night.)

A Love Story

Her husband is in the hospital, and she has nowhere to stay-
When Marie's husband was transferred from a hospital over 2 hours away to the Hershey Medical Center with a serious heart condition, she stayed by his bedside around the clock for five days, sleeping in a chair. The Parsonage provided Marie a place to stay free of charge and the forgotten basics: a bed to sleep in, a hot shower, and a cup of tea. With the caring support of Love INC volunteers, Marie was close to her husband during his health issues without the extra financial strain of a hotel bill.
